The Faces of Margraten tribute returned to the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial between May 2-6, 2018. That year over 5,800 photos were on display next to the graves and the names on the Walls of the Missing. In addition to the thousands of faces, visitors could also take the audio tour Voices of Margraten. This tour, produced by Stichting Laudio, gives a voice to the soldiers buried in the cemetery and to the community that keeps the memory to them alive.
Over 20,000 people visited the tribute, which opened on May 2 in presence of Governor Bovens of the Province of Limburg and the U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands, Hoekstra. During The Faces of Margraten tribute, we hand out program booklets to the tribute's visitors. The booklet offers more information about the tribute itself, but also about the cemetery and the audio tour Voices of Margraten. Program May 2-6, 2018
Who were the men and women who liberated us more than 70 years ago? During The Faces of Margraten tribute you will finally have the opportunity to meet our liberators when the personal photos of about 5,500 of them are on display next to their graves and the Walls of the Missing. The photos show us the faces of the people who became victims of war: the often young soldiers and their loved-ones. We honor them during this tribute and we will reflect upon our freedom in our contemporary world.
